Graduate School Course:
SWK 607: Social Work Data Analysis

This course provides an introduction to the basic methods of statistical analysis that are used in quantitative social work research. The course will focus on the conceptual understanding of univariate, bivariate, and multivariate statistics. Frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, and correlational methods will be assessed as it relates to the formulations of theories that are relevant to social work and evidence based practice. In addition, students will develop the necessary skills that are needed to analyze quantitative data. Skills will be applied using the IBM/ PASW/SPSS Statistical Software Package for the Social Sciences. An emphasis will be made in conducting research that has an empowerment perspective based on culturally competent practice.
