    Description

    SPA 346 Cultural Rootedness: Chicano/a Literature
    Three credit hours

    This bilingual course that examines the cultural hybridity experienced in Chicano/a Literature. The class offers cultural
    negotiations of individual and entire communities of Mexican descend in the United States, some communities
    whom the border crossed them without their knowledge. To expose to students to major themes, the class covers
    major works that have captured the imaginations of the readers as the authors incorporate their own cultural
    background as they carve out their own identity within the larger American society.
