EDU 439 Content Area Reading Three credit hours
This course is designed for secondary teachers in all content areas in order to promote middle and high school students? independence in
content area reading and writing. It provides an understanding of the basic principles of reading as well as factors which influence learning
from content texts and teaches specific instructional strategies which promote comprehension, vocabulary development, effective study, and
test-taking skills. Attention is given to the principles of research-based reading instruction.
