Description

ECO 438 Environmental Economics Three Credit Hours

This course focuses on the use of economics in understanding pollution, congestion, conservation, and other environmental problems. Relevant economic models such as pricing schemes, damage functions, and benefit-cost analysis are studied. Pollution taxes, regulations, marketable permits, and subsidies considered in designing alternative in the incentive system are also studied, as well as non-market decision making as an alternative in the area of public policy. Prerequisite: ECO 232 or permission of instructor.
