Description

COM 230 Introduction to Mass Communication Three credit hours

The course presents a survey of the nature, characteristics, and history of the mass communications industries ? newspapers, magazines, motion
pictures, records, radio, television, Internet communication, public relations and advertising. It also introduces students to professional opportunities in those fields with guest speakers from and field trips to local communication organizations. Required of all Communication Arts majors. Should be taken in the sophomore year. Prerequisite: C or better in COM 130.
