MUS 220 Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop One credit hour
This course is designed to introduce vocal students to opera and musical theater repertoire, with a focus
on music preparation, character analysis, performance skills, acting, and singing techniques that aid the
singing-actor in the dramatic presentation of all forms of lyric theater. The class will culminate in a program
of semi-staged and costumed operatic and musical theater excerpts. Vocal performance students must
take two credit hours. Prerequisite: Audition only.
